Hayao Miyazaki has been one of my favorite creators all the way back from his first film, The Castle of Cagliostro. Since then he has introduced us to so many of his enchanting worlds, I couldn't pick a favorite film of his if I tried. I do however have some favorite characters and one of his characters that I absolutely love are his Soot Sprites, Susuwatari, from Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. I just love their exaggerated expressions and how over the top dramatic
they are. One of my favorite Susuwatari appearances is in the bathhouse where they are put under s spell by the boiler man, Kamaji. They endlessly carry coal to the boiler which is terribly hard work even if you are an enchanted piece of soot. But Kamaji rewards them with a star shaped candy called kompeito and it appears they get some time to retire from carrying coal when Kamaji takes a break. I've always wanted to make a candle dedicated to these funny little spirits but nothing looked right until I came up with this candle and I'm so in love with it! I'm calling it "The Soot Sprites Snack" They are made with all natural soy wax, scented with sugar cookies and cherries, a DELICIOUS combination! And just a touch of sparkle with biodegradable glitter from Glitter Nymph
You must remove all decorations from the top before burning. I hope you love these cuties as much as I do!
