👻🌳In ancient Japanese folklore, there are stories of the Kodama, peculiar spirits that live in the old forests. These spirits stay very busy keeping watch over all living things in their forests and have been known to curse humans who come in and destroy the forests in any way. They are said to take on the appearance of atmospheric ghost lights but can also take the shape of a beast of even a human. In Aogashima, in the Izu Islands, shrines are creates at the base of large sugi trees in the mountains and are worshipped under the name “kidama-sama” and kodama-sama.” And even to this day, prayer and offerings must be made to the forest spirits before cutting a tree down. If you cut a tree without prayers and offering you risk upsetting all the forest spirits which could lead to a wide spread death of trees. The Lorax is a Forest Spirit!🎋I have always believed in forest spirits and the moment I saw @hayaomiyazaki depiction of Kodama I instantly fell in love! I loved the way he made them so playful, inquisitive and devoted to their precious trees. I make offerings to the Tree Spirits around my house on a regular basis. You will find crystals, shells, heart shaped rocks and other natural treasures lined around the base of their trunks and ribbons and feathers tied on their bows and branches. This candle is dedicated to the Kodama and to their dedication to our forests.🌳👻
This listing is for one (1) Kodama Candle that is made from 100% natural soy wax and hand poured into a 10oz glass tumbler. It is adorned with a glow in the dark forest spirit, lemurian seed crystals, geode slices, peridot, dried flowers and biodegradable glitter from The Glitter Nymph.
When you decide to burn your candle first make sure to remove all items from the top and place your candle in a safe place away from open windows, pets, children and anything flammable. Burn for 2 hours then carefully blow the flame out, let wax completely cool, trim wick and burn again. You should trim the wick before each burn time, this will help your candle last longer! Enjoy the magic and stay enchanted! ♥ Seja
